Activities such as these often intend to move a company’s reputation to another level with transparent objectives that benefit society, an organization’s reputation and its bottom line.
Such is Neenah Paper’s recent “Carbon Neutral Plus” announcement. The Wisconsin paper mill faces myriad environmental challenges simply due to the category in which it operates. Carbon Neutral Plus is not simply an effort to reduce the company’s carbon footprint and employ environmental conservation and protection measures. It is a move to reverse the effect their operations have on the environment through biodiversity efforts that include replacing wildlife habitat.
The restorative nature of Neenah’s move gives the company a new story to tell. It is a story with benefits that may be felt a century from now.
There is nothing subtle about that.
